Safe Haven Book Three A White Kim Fillmore Lanae Morris 9781469960111 Books

I read the first two books and enjoyed the pace of the action and the character development along the way. Then this book came along and everyhing hit a wall for me. I just can't get past the Angela character's waffling on going back to the abusive ex or starting over with her long returned lover. This should have been resolved instead of re-hashed over and over and over and over. I also can't get past the relationships that form up in this new world. Every man basically has an inner rapist that is either running free and raping everything with a pulse, is barely held in check do to some external constraints, or has adapted a socially acceptable face to fool the world. Women are either blatant sluts, prudes or rape victims that will sooner or later develop into a slut or a prude. The characters really are the charicature of what a middle schooler would come up with when dealing with sex, violence, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. Honestly, I was ok with that because the story line was interesting and advancing towards something. Now, the story is locked in a loop with no real progression. This normally would be a good spot for character development, but sadly I no longer care to find out who's a slut or a prude, or whether a hidden rapist will develop into a full blown rapist or not.

Safe Haven Book Three A White Kim Fillmore Lanae Morris 9781469960111 Books Reviews

I sort of stumbled upon this series based upon a Librarything.com recommendation from other books I had been reading. I didn’t really thing much of it because I could get the first two books together for free for my and figured it wasn’t that big of a deal if it was free, right? Wow, was I wrong!

I’ll admit that I bought it and read the first chapter, which was somewhat slow for me, so I put the book down for another. I decided to pick it back up after finishing my other readings, now I just wish I had started this sooner! The way the books are written just draws you into the story and never lets you go. I never thought before that I would wish to be part of a Post-Apocalyptic world until I started reading this series! But the dark lies and secrets that art hinted at, will they ever come out? Will dreams become fruition? Will they all live?

The best and worst thing about this series is that it keeps you wanting more. Every single time a book ends on a cliff hanger, you need the rest. I picked up the first book a few months ago and am glad that there are already 6 books in the series (so far) so that I can just jump to the next book without being stuck on a cliff hanger for months while waiting for the next book to come out. If you haven’t started this series yet, start now while the first book or two are still free!

If you enjoy books with post-apocalyptic worlds, zombies, magic, covert military ops, violence, revenge, lies and secrets…. Then you will love this series! Pick it up now!
I have enjoyed these books despite the annoying romance angles. By this point however, it has gone beyond annoying. This is supposed to be post-apocalyptic fiction. The story line is a good one that has gone down the dual roads of Romance and Fantasy.

I finally realized that one of the issues that although the character's characters are well drawn, in this third book we still don't even know what they look like. Just found out that someone is now a "tall blond". The author's obsession with tall blue-eyed blonds not withstanding, we still don't know what they look like. Do their features match their personalities?

Once again Sam and Kendra sort of dropped in the story and then dropped out. Sam another tall blond, and Kendra - well I don't know what color her hair is. But I do know her romantic interest has muscles.

As far as the author's namesake character Angela, I am reminded of a line in Gone With the Wind about Scarlett no longer being the cutest little trick in shoe leather. Angela is a mother of a teenage boy just recovering from a pregnancy and a cross country road trip of unimaginable horrors. The day she walks in to camp everyone is dying for lust for her, and she is lusting after not one but four or more men. I know that in this circumstance she is not the cutest little trick in shoe leather, she is a woman fighting to survive. Other than long dark hair, blue eyes, and slim hips, we really don't know what she looks like either.

Let us not forget that this is a time of survival and romance will take on a different form. Also, I don't care if anyone smokes pot, but it stretches credibility that when you need to be on your toes to survive, that you are busy toking.

Author You have a good story to tell, and sometimes it is told well after paging through endless romance scenes that are out of place, and frankly boring. But if your editor is not telling you, or you are not listening to your critics, then you need to find another editor. I would give this 2 1/2 stars, but two isn't an option either because there were things i did like, so it gets 3.

If you want me to buy another book, it needs to improve. Or, you can continue to direct your post apocalyptic fiction to the Romance reading crowd.
