Many have been misled into thinking that the Genesis account of creation is not actual history, but is just some sort of theological argument (‘polemic’). This small book succinctly shows why those who believe in the inspiration of Scripture have no intellectually honest choice but to take Genesis as straight-forward history, just as Jesus did. It powerfully challenges one of the major problems in the church today that affects the authority of the entire Bible. Read it, and give it to your pastor or particularly anyone contemplating theological training—kit could save them from getting derailed by some of the misleading arguments common in theological academia.

15 Reasons to Take Genesis as History eBook Don Batten Jonathan Sarfati

I purchased this book because I was interested in researching some intellectual arguments as to why Genesis, the first book in the Christian Bible, is considered history by many.

I stumbled upon this book while looking around online, and with such a low price, bought it with the off-chance of it not fulfilling my needs being outweighed by the cheap price of the book.

The first thing I noticed when the book arrived was how short it was. This was completely my fault, as the Amazon description even lists that the book is only 30 pages long. While initially hesitant, the material and content this book packs ends up feeling like 100 pages.

The authors take an almost scientific-like approach in using 15 reasons why Genesis should be regarded as history. As someone who is a bit of an amateur in the subject, it took me a bit to understand some of the points the authors were trying to make, but once understood, gained a solid understanding as to why they (and others) take the stance they do.

The book is very concise, and does not beat around the bush when providing evidence and support for each of the arguments they make. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in this particular field of study, as it does a fantastic job of informing the readers with well-researched and backed thoughts.

15 Reasons to Take Genesis as History eBook Don Batten Jonathan Sarfati Reviews

This book does not focus on the scientific arguments which are explored in other books, but gives the reasons belief in the historicity of God's Word is critical for all believers, especially those who teach.
Every sincere christian who is struggling with with the influence of postmodernism and with evolution should find this book helpful. There is absolutely no reason to abandon the historical record of scripture despite the criticism heaped on the Bible by those who consider themselves experts of history, or in most cases, pre-history when their case for doing so are beyond weak.
This is excellent!!!! Because of evolution, many believers are abandoning the clear teaching of God's Word. This scientist, and many others, show the scientific objections to evolution, the evidence for Intelligent Design, and also how it perfectedly fits Scripture.
Awesome little book about Genesis 1-11
This is a very interesting book. It is small and very easy to read. And it is all about theology.

It shows that the biblical theology of salvation only makes sense if Genesis is about real people and real events.

Moses, the Prophets, Jesus and the Apostles understood Genesis as real history. So did the most of the first Christian apologists.

Genesis gives us a picture of a rational Creator creating the world through a rational process and giving it a rational structure. Genesis is the basis of rationality and science. The result was a very good creation. It included human beings created with rational and moral capacities.

During the creation process and up until the Fall there was no disease, suffering and death. Because of human sin, death entered the world and God subjected its Creation to corruption and decay.

Because of the growing amount of evil in the world, God sent a global flood and spread out the peoples by giving them different languages.

But God chose a particular people, Israel, to prepare and proclaim the comming of a Saviour, who woud finally come to the land of Israel 2000 thousand years ago. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus Christ payed the price of sin and promissed us an immortal body in a restored Creation.

This is the theology. A rational, perfect and recent Creation is thus an essential part of if.

Even evolutionists such as Richard Dawkins understand this, probably better than many Christians. That's why discrediting this theology, and the recent creation which is part of it, is so important to them.

Although this book is only about theological arguments, it is interesting to note that science has really not refuted the basic facts which support this theology. Naturalistic and uniformitarian speculations apart, observed facts do support it.

The law of energy conservation still shows that energy cannot create itself out of nothing by chance, in spite of all naturalistic speculation to the contrary. The supernatural creation of the Universe still stands. No one has seen energy showing up from nothing.

Models of cosmic evolution are refuted every day by mature galaxies, galaxy and quasar clusters, pulsars, binary stellar systems, etc. On the contrary, these observations strongly support design, complexity and structure in the Cosmos.

The ENCODE project has rendered the selfish gene theory obsolete, by showing that the genome is an extremely complex information operating system, corroborating the super-inteligent design of living systems.

We know that chimpanzees share many genes with human beings, which makes sense since they share a common Creator. But their epigenetic regulatory structure is completely different, which also makes sense since they belong to a different kind.

No one as seen life starting by chance out of non living chemicals, nor chimpanzees and humans diverging from a common ancestor. That is just naturalistic speculation based on the naturalistic selection and interpretation of facts.

But creationists and evolutionists have the same facts. They just interpreted them on the basis of different assumptions.

Mutations, far from creating new and complex structures and functions, tend to destroy genetic information, causing all sorts of diseases, which makes sense in the light of corrupting structures and functions after the fall.

No one has seen mutations creating new and more complex structures functions. That is just evolutionary speculation. But we all have seen mutations corrupting genetic information and degrading biological structures. In fact, we see that every day.

Billions of fossils, in all 5 continents, allong with C-14 in fossils, rocks, coal, diamonds and evidence of soft tissue of dinosaurs and other supposedly ancient living structures (all complex and fully functional) are a powerfull evidence of a global flood, along with growing evidence of geological catastrophism.

It is important to remember that no one as seen the geological column forming over millions of years in the deep past. That's only an uniformitarian model, based on inferences based on what we see today.

The origin of speech remains a mystery that evolution cannot explain. Some even look for answers in the singing of birds, because chimpanzees cannot provide a clue to the mystery.

There is no mystery. God created human speech and the basic human languages.

Taking Genesis as history is not just good theology. It is good trinking. It is philosophically, historically, and scientificaaly sound.

And there are good grounds to take that theology serious in the XXI century. There is more solid historical evidence that Jesus died and was raised from the dead, than that energy came from nothing and life arose from non-life by chance.
